Plants

There are a great number of plant genetic resources in France. They are conserved or managed but also used and developed by various stakeholders. These may come from the field of research, plant improvement, education, regulation, or belong to local authorities, protected areas, associations, professional groups.

For temperate species, these stakeholders have decided to pool their efforts within a network where they co-operate together to preserve and enhance a National Collection of genetic resources for a species, or a species-group. About thirty networks have been established so far.

For tropical and Mediterranean species, public partners federate their activities on a common platform , which co-ordinates the management of national and international collections, the implementation of a sanitary plan for the transportation of genetic resources and stakeholder training.
